VX 320 Router KVM Matrix Switch
The TOE is a distributed system, which allows for remotely operation of shared computers using sets of
shared peripherals, dynamically connecting (switching) physical ports on a particular computer to a
particular shared peripheral set.
The TOE consists of the following hardware devices:
Thinklogical KVM Matrix Switch.
VX 320 Router and a customer supplied computer system (CSCS)
A set of Thinklogical Velocity Transmitter Extender Devices connected to sets of peripheral ports on shared computers.
A set of Thinklogical Velocity Receiver Extender Devices connected to sets of shared peripherals
Velocity Transmitter Extenders are connected to Transmitter Port Groups on the Switch using optical
Each Transmitter and Receiver Port Group is composed of two ports: transmit (T) port and receive (R)
port. Two optical cables are then required to connect a Velocity Transmitter or Receiver Extender to a
Transmitter or Receiver Port Group on the Switch. One cable is used to transmit data from the Extender
to the Switch; the other cable is used to transmit data from the Switch to the Extender. As a result, a bidirectional
connection is established, where data can flow in both directions.
Transmitter Port Groups for optical input from Velocity Transmitter Extender output (L1) are
connected to the receive ports on the Upper Card Cage of the VX320 Switch. Transmitter Port Groups
for optical output to Velocity Transmitter Extender input (L2) are connected to the transmit ports on the
Lower Card Cage of the VX320 Switch.
All data types, including video, audio and serial data are converted to an optical form and transmitted
in a single optical cable.
The purpose of the Switch is to establish logical connections between Transmitter and Receiver Port
Groups, while preserving Data Separation Security Function Policy (SFP).
